“Snehanilayam” Convent, Kakkanad, Kochi.

This was the first house of Handmaids in South India which began on 27th Jan 1977 and situated at Kakkanad, thirteen kilometers north of Kochi city. The founder Sisters of this community were the late Sr. Celia Garcia, late Sr. Carmen Reina, late Sr. Veronica and Sr. Teresa Maria Vilanova. The house name is “Snehanilayam” which means “House of Love”. The Apostolates here are : 1. Snehanilayam Special school 2. Snehanilayam Vocational Centre. website : snehanilayam.org 3. Pastoral Activities in collaboration with the Parish: Reaching out to the needy people, working as Eucharistic Ministers, as Animators in the Catechism Department, KCYM (Kerala Catholic Youth Movement), as Coordinators in the family Units, Preparing children for Holy Communion and Marriage Preparation.
